HYDROCEM

Elastic sealing cementitious single-component membrane CM 01P

Single-component, chlorine and alkali resistant cementitious membrane for the elastic sealing of substrates prior to the installation of ceramic tiles and natural stone. It is characterized by high adhesion of both the membrane to the substrate and the bonding products on it. Suitable for absorbent and non-absorbent substrates, on interior and exterior surfaces. It can be applied on terraces, balconies, swimming pools, concrete floors, existing floors made of ceramic tiles or natural stones, as well as on cured concrete.

  • It incorporates HYtech® technology creating a hydrophobic, highly elastic and chemically stable waterproofing membrane
  • Lower consumption than equivalent two-component products
  • Large mixing water range
  • Excellent workability
  • High breathability
  • Cracks bridging
  • It is ideally combined with HYtech GEL technology, HYFIX 500 and HYFLEX 1000 cementitious tile adhesives
Composition & Features

Mixture of high quality white cement, quartz sand, crushed marble of selected granulometry and quality, enriched with polymers and special improving additives and minerals.

Application

The substrate must be clean and firm and must be wetted to saturation before application. • Wood and metal tips should be cut to a depth of approximately 3 cm and then covered with REFIXCEM fiber-reinforced, repair mortar. REFIXCEM is also used for the healing of concrete nests. • At the points where the floor joins the wall, it is recommended to form a curvilinear tough approximately 10 cm wide with REFIXCEM. • Any cracks in the substrate are filled with REFIXCEM. Then, after REFIXCEM has hardened, a coat of MARMOCEM LAST is applied locally and while it is still damp, a suitably cut piece of reinforcement (fiberglass mesh/polyester geotextile) is embedded along the crack. Finally, a second coat of MARMOCEM LAST is applied to cover the reinforcement completely. • In areas of severe cracking and connections or joints, in addition to the local use of the reinforcement mentioned, it is recommended to use it universally over the entire surface. The reinforcement is placed immediately after the application of the first coat of HYDROCEM, while it is still damp. The coating thickness of the reinforcement strips should be approximately 10 cm. The second coat that will follow should completely cover the reinforcement (a third coat may be required). • Mix the product with clean water (bag 4.5-5.0 l/25 kg) until homogeneous. • HYDROCEM is applied in two coats crosswise, using a brush or a paintbrush, with the second coat applied when the first one is dry. HYDROCEM is a spreadable, elastic, osmotic, 2-component sealing system. It reacts with the components of the cement and forms stable and insoluble salts which clog the pores and capillaries of the concrete by osmosis. It is suitable for the external and internal sealing of foundations, basements, conventional or inverted flat roofs, swimming pools, tanks, surfaces with capillary cracks and generally in any construction where sealing of the substrate is required. Thanks to the single, cohesive, elastic membrane that HYDROCEM forms, it offers complete sealing and protection from moisture, excellent adhesion to the substrate, high resistance to negative pressures in bending and compression, as well as to temperature changes, while providing full breathability to the structural elements. If the first coat has already hardened, it must be preceded by sufficient wetting. • The thickness of each coat should not exceed 1 mm to avoid possible cracking. • The freshly coated surface should be protected from rain, direct sunlight, dust, etc. • The application temperature should be between +8 oC and +35 oC HYDROCEM contains cement which is classified as an irritant. Consult the safety instructions and precautions listed in the Material Safety Data Sheet of the product.
