PROTECTOR SHIELD MATT
Transparent two-component polyurethane varnish (2-C)
PROTECTOR SHIELD matt is a two-component acrylic/aliphatic polyurethane based, spreadable coating used as a top coat (finish) in floor and wall applications (decorative cementitious mortar, concrete, industrial floors, stone etc.), metal surface paints as well as structures near marine areas. It is also suitable for swimming pools as a protective coating on the epoxy paint. It waterproofs the surface while giving it high mechanical strength – especially in abrasion and impact – and resistance to stains. Finally, it has excellent resistance to UV radiation and does not turn yellow. It polymerizes with the moisture of the atmosphere, the subsoil and the air and gives a matt surface. Homogeneous, ready-to-use industrial product of consistently high quality. It ensures good workability, increased application speed, it is economical and provides excellent results.
Transparent two-component polyurethane coating (2-C) Although the specifications and instructions set out in this bulletin have been prepared to the best of our skills, knowledge and experience, they should be taken as indicative results and require verification after many applications. Users to whom this product is addressed should verify its suitability for the intended application. The end user is responsible for any result of the use of the product.
- The substrate must be firm, dry and clean of any kind of residues (plasters, powders, paints, oils, etc.). Old coatings, dirt, grease, vegetal matter and dust must be removed with the help of an abrasive machine (sander). Any surface irregularities should be healed and smoothed. Any loose pieces or powders from sanding must be removed. Caution: do not wash the surface with water before the application.
- In the case of fresh concrete, a minimum of 28 days is required before the application of the material.
- PROTECTOR SHIELD matt is well mixed and applied by a roller in two or more coats, depending on the absorbency of the substrate and the desired effect.
- For best results, the temperature during application should be between 5oC and 35oC. Low temperatures slow down the curing, while high temperatures speed it up. High humidity may affect the finish.
- Once the PROTECTOR SHIELD matt container is opened and comes into contact with air and atmospheric moisture, its contents must be used in its entirety. In the event that some quantity remains in the container after the end of the application, it will harden with time and cannot be used.
- The moisture content of the substrate must not exceed 5%.
- PROTECTOR SHIELD matt is ready for use after mixing the two components (for about 3 minutes) and after allowing it to settle for another 5 minutes. It is applied with a roller in two coats.
- Working time is about 2 hours (25 oC).
- The time between two coats is 24 hours (25 oC).
- The accessibility time is 24 hours (25 oC)
• In sets of metal containers of 5.2 kg (component A + B) and 1 kg (component A + B). • In sealed containers and in a dry environment, protected from frost and prolonged exposure to strong sunlight for 2 years (Component A) and 12 months (Component B) from the date of production.
100 – 200 gr/m2, depending on the type of substrate
